The shipyard enters
the final phase
Spring has arrived, and with it, new energy at the shipyard. Days are getting longer, light is returning… and the countdown has begun. Only one month left until launch.

Book Tour — One week, six stops
Last week, Ambrogio was on tour in Italy with his book Mare selvaggio (Wild Sea): seven days, six presentations. A true tour de force that started in Venice, then Rome, Gallipoli, Naples, Genoa, and finally La Spezia. A journey across the peninsula, during which Bogi finally met his followers and sea story enthusiasts.
The first stop was at the Compagnia della Vela in Venice, with Pietro Luciani, ocean sailor and vice-president of Class40, and the legendary Cristina from the bookstore "Il Mare di carta". The second stop was in the capital, at a sea-themed bookstore in the heart of the San Saba district, where Ambrogio conversed with writer Lorenzo Pavolini, a great ocean enthusiast.
Then it was Gallipoli's turn, where his spearfisherman friend Francesco Sena welcomed our sailor to the Circolo Vela — the stop with the highest number of copies of Mare selvaggio sold. After Naples, at the Circolo del remo e della vela Italia, the last two stops were Genoa at the Vele Vernazzolesi club and La Spezia, at the Mediateca San Fregoso, with Matteo Caccia, podcaster, friend, and co-author of the book.
«In my sport, there's no audience during races. No one sees me live as I cross the ocean. There's always a filter, often social media. Writing a book has changed things a bit… for once, I used a different, broader, and more in-depth filter that gave me the opportunity to tell much more. During this tour, I understood the importance of experiencing moments like these, where I could truly get to know the people who follow me. Even just seeing someone who traveled two hours by train for an autographed copy made me reflect. And above all, it made me want to dedicate time to talking about my work.»

Shipyard — Final phase
New livery underway
After over 200 hours of sanding, the boat has been completely restored to visible carbon. Once the final surface finishes were completed, a first coat of white was applied, followed by the placement of masking to define the lines of the new decoration.
It is always a significant moment: seeing the boat take shape in reality after imagining it. A little more patience… we will have to wait for the launch to discover the final result.

Foil — A key phase
The main challenge of this winter shipyard was the relocation of the foil casings. Today, the old outlets have been closed, new openings have been made, and the casings have been installed in their new position. Impressive how the components find their precise spot down to the millimeter.
Thanks to 3D scans, adjustments were made with great precision. These surveys allowed for the exact shape and dimensions of the casings to be defined, so that the new openings in the hull could be made at the correct point and with the appropriate geometry. However, the work is not yet finished: these structures will have to withstand very high loads during navigation. They are currently being laminated inside the hull, a long, precise, and fundamental operation.

Rigging — Preparation
With the delivery of the Gottifredi Maffioli ropes, work is also progressing on the rigging front. Everything is being prepared in advance to be as efficient as possible after launch, and especially after mast stepping, when Carlos, our rigger, will have to install everything on board.
«After entering the shipyard last December, we were able to analyze what needed to be improved. This period allowed me to anticipate as much as possible, especially considering the choice to replace all the ropes with Gottifredi Maffioli. This entails a lot of preparation, with new systems and some solutions to be rethought. The goal is to anticipate as much as possible, because after launch and mast stepping, time will be short. I work with a lot of data provided by the engineers: positions, loads, dimensions… but every change has an impact on the whole, so you have to be ready to adapt. I can't wait for the boat to be in the water and rigged!»

Optimizations and sails
Optimizations
Alongside the main phases, numerous secondary but fundamental interventions are also advancing: modification of the ballast system, optimization of raft and antenna supports, lightening and processing of the keel bulb. Repair and reinforcement work has also been carried out on the mast with carbon supplied by Mapei.
«During the ultrasonic inspection of the mast this winter, we identified two defects stemming from the last Transat Café L'Or. We are currently addressing them with high-modulus carbon supplied by Mapei, also used as reinforcement in concrete structures.»
— Enrico Bandiera, Technical Director
In this same dynamic, Mapei supports us by providing various products from its range tested on board: silicones, maintenance products, and high-modulus carbon.
Sails — Work in progress
Work is also progressing on the sail plan. Several new sails are under development with North Sails. Their definition requires significant preliminary work, both from an aerodynamic point of view and for their integration with the boat. Ambrogio brings his vision and experience, which are compared with the analyses of the team's engineers and North Sails.
The process is iterative: simulations, adjustments, and new simulations. The goal is to obtain a sail plan consistent with the boat and suited to Ambrogio's sailing style.
