The day after finishing the Transat Café L'Or in fourth place with Thomas Ruyant, our customers from Martinique had the privilege of meeting Ambrogio Beccaria and his team.
On Saturday, November 8, we invited them at 10 AM to the Bar de la Transat by CODERUM & L'OR, located in the Fort-de-France Arrival Village, for a morning of conviviality and discovery. Over coffee or fresh juice—rum would have to wait a little longer!—the ALLA GRANDE MAPEI communication team, consisting of Victor, Bianca, and Lorenzo, warmly welcomed the participants in a relaxed atmosphere.
Once the group was assembled, we headed to the dock where Ambrogio was waiting to offer an immersion into the world of ocean sailing aboard ALLA GRANDE MAPEI.
As it had started to rain, the visit began indoors in the cockpit, where Ambrogio explained the various navigation instruments, winch maneuvers, and the meaning of the colored lines used to quickly identify the maneuvers to be performed.
There was no shortage of discussion moments: our guests were fascinated by the foils, the tilting keel, the multi-directional mast, and the rudders, elements that contribute to the boat's performance. Thanks to Ambrogio's explanatory skills, technology became accessible to everyone.
When the weather improved, the group went on deck to witness the sail change—an operation as impressive as it was delicate. Ambrogio took the opportunity to emphasize safety protocols, particularly the use of lifelines, essential to prevent anyone from falling overboard.
"Ambrogio managed to make the boat's technology understandable with simplicity and infectious enthusiasm," said Manuel Petit, export sales engineer at MAPEI France.
The morning concluded with a convivial lunch at La Boucherie restaurant, where conversations continued in a warm and familiar atmosphere.
This splendid meeting ended with great enthusiasm—and with the next appointment already set for the upcoming transatlantic races.
